Terms of Service

1. What We Provide

LabelDex is a platform that connects independent music artists with record labels. It includes:

• A searchable label directory
• Track uploads and artist / label profiles
• A shared demo pool and direct submission track links for sending tracks to labels
• In-app messaging between artists and labels
• Optional paid features (Pro plan)

2. Eligibility & Accounts

You must:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Provide accurate, real information
• Keep your login credentials secure — you're responsible for activity on your account
• Not abuse, scrape, overload, or exploit the service

Accounts are either an artist or a label account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Subscriptions & Billing

• The Free plan allows a limited number of demo-pool submissions per calendar month. The Pro plan removes that limit.
• Paid plans are billed through Stripe. By subscribing, you also agree to Stripe's terms.
• Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel anytime through the billing portal in your settings; access continues until the end of the paid period.
• Refunds are not guaranteed unless required by law.
• We may change pricing or plan features; we'll give notice of material changes.

4. Your Content & Uploads

You retain ownership of the tracks, images, text, and other content you upload. By uploading or posting content, you:

• Confirm you own it or have all rights necessary to upload it and to grant the license below
• Grant LabelDex a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, stream, and process that content for the purpose of operating and providing the platform (including showing your tracks and profile to labels)
• Are solely responsible for what you upload — no infringing material, hate, harassment, spam, or unlawful content

We may remove content that violates these Terms or the law, and may remove tracks or data after a period of inactivity (for example, demo-pool submissions expire automatically).

5. Public Profiles & Submission Links

Some parts of LabelDex are intentionally public:

• Your artist profile page can be publicly viewable and indexed by search engines. It may display your artist name, photo, location, bio, genres, social links, and self-reported follower counts.
• A submission track link can be opened by anyone who has the link (it is unlisted, not search-indexed). It displays your track and profile details.

Don't put anything private or confidential in fields that power these public surfaces.

6. Submissions to Labels

We don't guarantee that:

• A label will listen to, respond to, or sign your track
• Every label listing or piece of profile data is accurate
• The service will always be available, error-free, or uninterrupted

LabelDex is a venue for discovery and communication only. Any agreement, deal, or contract between an artist and a label is solely between those parties — LabelDex is not a party to it, does not represent either side, and is not responsible for its terms or outcome.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity, audience, or rights
• Upload content you don't have the rights to
• Harass, spam, or abuse other users
• Scrape, copy, or resell the label directory or other platform data
• Attempt to break, probe, or circumvent platform security or access controls

8. Third-Party Services

LabelDex relies on third parties including Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage), Stripe (payments), and PostHog (analytics). Your use of those features is also subject to those providers' terms and policies. We aren't responsible for third-party services.

9. AI & Future Features

We may add automated or AI-assisted features (for example, genre matching, feedback, or analytics tools). Any such output is informational only, may be inaccurate, and is not professional, legal, financial, or career advice. You are responsible for your own decisions.

10. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent allowed by law, LabelDex is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, data, or opportunities, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold LabelDex harmless from claims arising out of your content, your use of the platform, or your violation of these Terms or the rights of others.

12. Termination

You may stop using LabelDex at any time and request account deletion (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Wisconsin.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms. We'll update the date above and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
